Skoda introduces the Yeti Laurin&Klement, a special edition of the popular compact SUV from the Czech manufacturer dedicated to Václav Laurin and Václav Klement, founders of Laurin & Klement, a Bohemian carmaker that in 1925 was absorbed by Skoda to become the first actual Skoda factory producing cars (before then the company was involved in other industries, mainly railways and the production of tanks and military vehicles).
This particular variant comes with bi-xenon headlights, 17-inch Annapurna alloy wheels and roof bars, while on the inside it gets leather upholstery, gloss black inserts and aluminum pedals. Special Laurin & Klement logos can be spotted on the door panels and on the seat backrests. Skoda is yet to reveal any information about the engine range and the availability of this special edition on the various European markets. In case you were wondering, this car is not the first Skoda model that has been dedicated to the two founders: before that we also had a Superb Combi Laurin & Klement, which we talked about in a dedicated post back in 2011.
The Yeti is currently available in Europe with 5 different engine options: a turbocharged 1.2 TSI producing 105 hp, the 1.4 TSI developing 122 hp, the 1.8 TSI credited with an output of 160 hp plusd the 1.6 TDI and 2.0 TDI diesel units. The chassis of the latest version uses high strength materials that increased the rigidity of the frame, particularly in the passenger compartment. All Yeti models are fitted with air conditioning, electro-mechanical power steering, driver and passenger front airbags, side and curtain airbags, electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors, and remote central door locking with two keys.
