Shelby Tuatara – 1331 BHP

The US firm Shelby has released the first images of its new supercar which will take on the mighty Bugatti Veyron, named Tuatara.
Veyron’s days are close to an ending after Shelby will produce the world’s fastest car, under the Tuatara name.
Being the first US company to hold the former world’s fastest production car title, with the 1.183 HP SCC Ultimate Aero TT, Shelby was stopped by the Bugatti Veyron, but now it is back and wants it all.
Move away Bugatti, as the new Tuatara supercar will produce 1.331 BHP, from its 7.0 liter twin-turbo V8, connected to a seven-speed manual or a seven-speed robotized gearbox.
Performance figures aren’t currently known but the aim is to pass over the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport’s 258 mph top speed.
“Most manufacturers essentially use the same basic model and body shape for up to 10 years, while only making small refinements to it each year. After only three years in production with the Ultimate Aero, SSC’s Tuatara is about to monumentally evolve in the areas of sophistication, design, aerodynamics and shear all‐around performance. We felt that the fastest evolving DNA was a perfect definition of SSC’s latest project”, said the company’s owner, Jarod Shelby.
The “Tuatara” name comes from a lizard native to New Zealand, which has the fastest molecular structure in nature.
Prices, specifications or the release date of the Tuatara supercar are currently unknown but Shelby could try to break down the speed record by then end of this year.
