2013 Qoros GQ3 Unveiled

2013 Qoros GQ3

As we reported in November, the Qoros brand will make its European bow at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. One of the cars on display will be the Qoros GQ3.

The dynamic teaser shots we showed last month presented a luxury brand image, but the reality is that the Chinese carmaker will compete at the lower end of the market with the likes of Dacia.

The fledgling company has made an effort with this launch model that was styled by a team of designers in Munich and Shanghai. Their work has resulted in a fairly conventional saloon silhouette with short overhangs.

The Qoros GQ3 is 1839mm wide, which will make it one of the widest cars in its class. This provides a lot of room on the inside. The cabin comes with a centre console equipped with a touchscreen information system that controls the SatNav and can be linked to a smartphone, and the passengers are protected by side, front and curtain airbags in an effort to achieve a maximum Euro NCAP rating.

According to the firm’s deputy chairman Volker Steinwascher, the brand will be aimed at young drivers. “During the development of the Qoros GQ3, we directed all our efforts towards the needs and expectations of today’s young, aspirational customers.”
